Afghan Weddings

The Ayena Masshaf follows: a veil, a Quran, and a mirror held between the couple. They see each other’s reflection for the first time as married.

It is one of the most intimate moments of the day, staged within the dignity of the ballroom rather than tucked away from it.

The Attan is the climax of the evening. A wide circle forms, the drums build, and the whole room is drawn onto the floor.

Pillar-free ballrooms hold the crowd. No sound limiter cuts it short.

How many guests can Meridian Grand host for an Afghan wedding?
Two pillar-free ballrooms seat 120 to 800 guests, combinable into one Meridian Grand Ballroom for the largest celebrations. Afghan wedding guest lists of 400 to 800 are accommodated as standard.

Can the Nikah ceremony take place at Meridian Grand?
Yes. The Nikah is staged with elevated positioning and clear sightlines, with structured seating for elders and family witnesses. Segregation arrangements can be coordinated in advance where the family requests them.

Can the Ayena Masshaf, the mirror ceremony, be accommodated?
Yes. The Ayena Masshaf is staged within the ballroom itself, with the veil, the Quran and the mirror held with the public dignity the moment deserves, immediately following the Nikah ceremony.

Is Halal catering available, including Kabuli Pulao?
Yes. Halal catering is fully in-house, built around The Lapis Celebration Menu of Kabuli Pulao, Mantu, Bolani and regional Afghan dishes served at scale. External Afghan caterers are also accommodated.

Is there a sound limiter during the Attan?
No. Meridian Grand operates with no sound limiter at all. Live drums, DJs and full-volume entertainment carry the Attan through to its natural close, without the celebration being cut short early.

Are wudu facilities and a prayer room available?
Yes. Ablution facilities are available for guests throughout the event, and a private suite is designated as a quiet prayer room for the full duration of the celebration.
