Built for the Modern Bengali Wedding
Meridian Grand is the Bengali wedding venue London families return to for the reception that defines the day. The modern Bengali wedding in London is built around the big reception — the Holud is at home, the Nikah at the masjid, and the night everyone shares is the reception. We are built for that.
The Shapla Package is the signature offering, named after the Bangladeshi national flower. The kitchen is fully halal. Pilau and white rice on every table. Décor by Midnight Garden. The food tasting before the day is where most Bengali parents tell us they decide they are in the right place.

The Heart of the Celebration
The Reception Is the Centrepiece of the Wedding
London’s modern Bengali weddings are built around the reception. The Holud occurs in the sanctity of the home. The Nikah is at the masjid or in the family living room. The celebration that everyone shares is the reception.
Meridian Grand is built for that reception. 200 to 800 seated guests in a pillar-free ballroom. Décor by Midnight Garden. Our Shapla menu designed to honour traditional catering with contemporary twists.

The Shapla Menu — Bengali, From the First Course to the Last
Named after the shapla, the Bangladeshi national flower. The signature offering — and the one parents look for when deciding which venue gets the booking.
Pilau and white rice on every table. Large platters to impress your guests. Thaal-style presentation. The curries the family has been eating at Eid for thirty years. Your bespoke menu is discussed at the consultation; the final menu is built with you at the food tasting.

The Stage Is the Photograph the Family Will Have on the Wall
The bride and groom on the centre stage. The family in turn for the photographs. The cousins, the aunties, the friends from school — every group photographed exactly as the family wants the day remembered.
Midnight Garden designs the stage to the bride’s brief — colour palette, florals, lighting, the backdrop. Reds and golds, ivories and pinks, deep emerald — whatever the bride has on her mood board. Integrated production lighting is part of the building.

The Journey
From the First Visit to the Last Dance
The first visit is a private viewing — the family walks the ballroom, the kitchen team is introduced, the coordinator sits with the parents.
The food tasting follows in weeks two or three. Six to eight dishes, spice tuned, the menu shaped. Then the run sheet, supplier list, décor sign-off, late licence. By the day of the reception, the family is calm.
You know that Meridian Grand is where it was always meant to be.

FAQs
Common Questions
Do you host Gaye Holud ceremonies at Meridian Grand?
The Holud is traditionally hosted at home or in a community hall — the turmeric, the close family, the informal energy work better in those spaces. At Meridian Grand the focus is the reception, where 200 to 800 guests gather for the event that live in everyone’s memory.
Is Meridian Grand a halal Bengali wedding venue?
Yes. The kitchen is fully halal. The chefs prepare pilau, white rice, chicken curry, lamb curry, dal, vegetable sides, and salads to family recipes refined across hundreds of Bengali weddings. Spice levels are tuned at the food tasting.
What is the Shapla Package?
The Shapla Package is Meridian Grand’s signature Bengali wedding offering, named after the Bangladeshi national flower. It covers the reception food at the standard the parents expect — pilau and white rice on every table, thaal-style presentation, the full Bengali spread. Your choices of individual dishes will be discussed at the consultation.
Do you offer food tastings before the wedding?
Yes. The food tasting takes place a few weeks after the booking — a selection of dishes plated, spice levels calibrated to the family’s preference, and the final menu shaped together. It is the moment most Bengali parents tell us they realise they are in the right place.
How many guests can a Bengali wedding accommodate at Meridian Grand?
Bengali weddings at Meridian Grand range from 200 to 800 seated guests across the Grand Ballroom and Meridian Ballroom, combinable into one space.
Can Meridian Grand accommodate segregation or female-only staffing?
Yes, when the family asks. Segregation with separate entrances, partition systems for one-ballroom splits, and female-only staffing in the evening are all available. Most Bengali receptions at Meridian Grand are open seating; segregation is offered when the family observes it.
